If you, like us, decided to finish off Christmas Day with one last mince pie and the Downton Abbey Christmas Special, then you, like us, will have shed a tear or two. And we’re not talking about Carson’s marriage proposal to Mrs Hughes…

Instead, you might have come across a rather unexpected tear-jerker in the form of the new HSBC Pink Ladies ad. In order to inaugurate the relaunch of the Advance bank account, the ad aims to show young people how their success comes a result of the support network they build around them.

In Pink Ladies – already featured as ‘Ad of the Day’ on The Drum – we’re told the story of how a group of women pay for a budding hairdresser to achieve her dreams. Pair this with our licensing of “Grow Till Tall” by Jonsi ensured that we were a blubbering mess before we even got a chance to see Branson leave Downton for America.
