In the office we get more excited about the big Christmas Ad reveals rather than Christmas. We had been patiently waiting for John Lewis’ big reveal at the beginning of this month. The annual advert has come to be recognised as signalling the start of the festive season, and although there have been mixed reviews the CORD team loved it!
Christmas Adverts have evolved in the past couple of years. It is clear that music is at the forefront of these campaigns and it’s always exciting to see which artist, bespoke compositions, song, cover will take centre stage. The best example of the music being a key figure of the campaign would be John Lewis’ 2013 christmas advert. Lily Allen did a cover of Somewhere Only We Know which was later released on itunes and later became the number 1 on the UK Charts.
We decided to compile our favourite Christmas adverts for 2016 so far. It was tough for us to pick the best but the team finally all agreed on the below 5:
